WRIF Named Best Local Radio Station by Detroit Free Press

Beasley Media Group’s 101 WRIF is named “Best Local Radio Station” by The Detroit Free Press as part of the “Best of the Best Detroit 2021” awards. The station was nominated in January 2022 as part of their “Best of the Best 2021” media category. The field included five nominees who were narrowed down to the top three and then finally to the winner. With over 93,000 votes counted, 101 WRIFs won the title.

The announcement was made at the Best of the Best Detroit Gala held at the Dearborn Inn on April 28. WRIF PD/noon host Jade Springart was present at the event to accept the award on behalf of 101 WRIF. Following the announcement of the winners, The Detroit Free Press published a celebratory “Best of the Best” section in the newspaper’s Sunday edition on May 1.

“While WRIF’s rich history in Detroit spans more than 50 years, it continues to put the listener first, helping it remain one of America’s premier rock brands today,” said Scott Jameson, director of programming for Beasley Media Group Detroit and vice president of national content. “Congratulations to Program Director Jade Springart, Marketing Director Ken Wasilewski and the entire WRIF team. We are honored to be recognized by USA Today and The Detroit Free Press as one of Motor City’s Best of the Best. .”
