Wallingford Media Company’s popular radio station, 100.7 “The Coyote”, is hosting its annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Friday, August 18, 2022 at the Media Complex at 128 Big Hill Avenue in Richmond. The radio station partners each year with other local businesses like Zaxby’s, Sonny’s BBQ, Jacksons Restaurant and others to provide meals and beverages to local law enforcement and first responders.
Candice Agee, marketing specialist at Wallingford Media, says the event originated three years ago amid widespread negative sentiment nationwide against police and law enforcement. “We were truly shocked by the national attention given to police defunding initiatives and so many law enforcement officials being shot, injured or generally looked down upon, and we wanted to do something locally to show those men and women how essential they are and how much they are appreciated,” Agee said.
Agee added: “The response has been phenomenal. Our business people wanted to be involved and we have been repeatedly told by first responders and officers how much this means to them. They show up in droves every year for a drink and a box lunch and even sign up for fun prizes.
Wallingford Media staff and supporting sponsors hope you will tell your friends or family members who serve in this capacity to come and have lunch with us this Friday. The event begins around 12:30 p.m. and will continue until around 2 p.m.
Wallingford Media is the parent company of WBON-TV9 and other affiliated radio stations in the region.
