RTÉ 2FM’s new afternoon show will be hosted by comedy duo Johnny Smacks and Johnny B every weekday from 3-6pm.

Known as Drive it with The 2 Johnnies, the station says the show will feature hard-hitting tunes, good craic and great new segments to keep listeners entertained on weekdays.

The guys will solve problems ranging from getting the shift on a Friday night to changing the oil on a tractor. And Johnny Smacks and Johnny B will also make the voices of the Irish heard.

The 2 Johnnies said, “We are incredibly excited to join 2FM. We hum like an old fridge. 2FM is a monster station, with such a history and we will follow in the footsteps of the giants.

“These are uncharted waters for us, but we’re looking forward to trying not to break down every day. We’ll try some stuff, it won’t always go well, but you won’t want to miss it. We can only hope people will talk about us in the years to come…in a good way.

They replace Jenny Greene who is leaving Drive Time to take over the 10 p.m. slot Sunday to Thursday on 2FM with a new show called The Greene Room.

The 2 Johnnies added: “This show will be for the man in the van, the parents looking after the kids who eat the light switches, the students pretending to study, those laying blocks or looping locks. For listeners on the go, or if they’re home alone, walking the dog or jogging.

“For farmers, sandwich makers, chicken roll eaters, those in the truck, bus, car or working from home to get to the kitchen. From guys drinking tay in Mountmellick to women in Rathdowney wondering where the mall went – this show is for everyone.

2FM Chief Dan Healy said: “2FM is moving for the evening ride and we are off to Cahir! We have been listening to The 2 Johnnies for several years and 2FM is thrilled to have them on the station. The guys have amazing chemistry and content. I believe 2FM audiences will like them. So with the show coming daily from South Tipp, it really proves that 2FM is “The Sound of The Nation”.
