Bristol once had a WBIS radio station and it was listened to by many of the generation before me. For me, it was, for some reason, hearing the late Pete Lis Show while he was in high school at Bristol Eastern, doing a kind of “distant” humor that caught my ear. It would be nice if these programs were preserved.
As a youngster, he would also catch parts of the Bristol Industrial (Dusty League) stopping at the Page Park softball field. I remember Jackie Roberts at the microphone installed on a table to announce these games live on the radio. With that, do you remember any of the star players of those 1950s?
Macie Barnett from California, is here this summer as an intern for our Parks and Recreation. department. A smart girl, she has three separate associate degrees and is here because she is working on a parks and recreation degree. Macie is Bob Barnett’s granddaughter and is staying with him this summer.

Terry took photos of the work in progress at the old Memorial Boulevard School for the City of Bristol and wonders if anyone has any photos of the school from the past, and that’s when she was completed for use in 1923.

There were 26 blessed dogs and a cat Saturday morning in the parking lot of Asbury Methodist Church. Pastor Kun Sam Cho did the honors.
Each year, Chippens Hill Middle School selects one male and one female student to be the Athlete of the Year. Those recently announced for 2002 were Taylor Losee and Ryan Klepps. Taylor has played volleyball, basketball and softball for three years, while Ryan has participated in soccer, basketball and baseball for the past three years.
