The Countdown to New Zealand’s Retro Weekly Top 40 is a weekly New Zealand time travel trip to the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. Kapiti Coast-based broadcaster Rob Walker hosts the show which is a countdown to the top 40 songs such as ‘they were on the official New Zealand singles charts for the relevant weekend. It also includes a preview of some tracks from some great albums that were on the Official New Zealand Albums Charts for the same year and weekend.
The show is 3-4 hours long and packed with audio from the artists, as well as an overview of New Zealand news and events from this weekend and this year, and as this is our countdown, it of course contains good New Zealand music. . Some radio stations broadcast the program 2 or 3 times a week with reruns in the middle of the week.
