In a recorded video message, Duterte congratulated the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) after the inauguration of the Visayas Media Hub in Mandaue City, Cebu.

“I look forward to the creation of this new facility and its state-of-the-art equipment which will boost government communications service across the country,” Duterte said.

“I am certain that this center will be a beacon of excellence as we modernize our government media for the betterment of the welfare of our people in the Visayas and the rest of the nation,” the President added.

PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Barangay Subangdaku Media Center which will serve as the main broadcast center for the Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Western Visayas.

Some 300 million pesos has been allocated in the 2022 national budget for the construction of the media facility to build the capacity of government media in the Visayas.

An additional 300 million pesos has also been included in the PCOO’s 2022 budget for various equipment needed to operate the media hub.

The construction of the Visayas Media Hub is one of the flagship projects of the Duterte administration which aims to promote effective government communication operations.

It will house the various agencies attached to the PCOO such as the People’s Television Network (PTV), the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the Philippine News Agency (PNA) and the Presidential Broadcast Staff – Radio Television Malacañang (PBS-RTVM).

The Visayas Media Hub will be the PCOO’s second media hub outside of Metro Manila alongside the Mindanao Media Hub in Davao City which conducted its pilot live broadcast in December 2020.
