An injury to The Acclaimed’s Anthony Bowens led to a big singles match tonight for Max Caster on AEW Dynamite.

This Morning on Busted Open Radio with Dave LeGreca and Tommy Dreamer, Tony Khan joined the show to talk about tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. During the segment, Khan announced that Max Caster would go one-on-one with CM Punk tonight on Dynamite.

The All Elite Wrestling president also revealed that this is due to Anthony Bowens being sidelined with a knee injury last month. Khan said he thought Bowens would only be out for two weeks, but it’s been longer than anyone expected.

It’s the opposite of what happened last year when Bowens worked a series of singles matches while Caster was injured.

Khan admitted the injury has caused him to alter some plans over the past few weeks, but did not elaborate on what those were.

Following his appearance on Busted Open Radio, Khan took to social media to announce the match to the world, tweeting:

“Two of the best speakers in pro wrestling today will go one-on-one in the ring when @CMPunk takes on @PlatinumMax on Dynamite TONIGHT! What will Caster say in his entrance rap? Can Punk close the big Max’s mouth?

CM Punk vs. Max Caster

#AEWDynamite @ 8pm ET / 7pm CT on @TBSNetwork TONIGHT!” Tony Khan tweeted.

Tony Khan also revealed on social media that former Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal will go one-on-one with former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley tonight on AEW Dynamite.
