Another brand new radio station will launch in Vancouver on Monday and it will play where you would usually find The Peak.

102.7 FM NOW!radio is the “evolution of radio” in Vancouver according to a press release, and it starts at 1:02 p.m.

“Not the radio you’ve heard before. No hype, real, honest, UN-Radio.

102.7 NOW! has no rules, and the hosts and listeners “are at the center of it all”.

The announcement suggests there will be a heavy focus on conversation, but there will also be music.

“All kinds of music, old and new. It’s a bit like having synchronized your devices with our transmitter! Your favorite tunes, all in one place while you listen in your car or stream us…anywhere!

The hosts of 102.7 NOW! can play “whatever they want”.

Obviously, the elephant in the room is the fact that this station is launched on 102.7 FM, which has been home to The Peak for years. Don’t worry, The Peak isn’t going anywhere – nowhere far anyway.

Although The Peak is no longer live on 102.7 FM, it will be available to listen on 102.7 HD2 if you have an HD compatible car stereo. You can also always grab The Peak on streaming platforms if that’s where you’re used to listening to shows like The first show hosted by Charis and Jeremy.

“It’s really great to lead this team on this exciting new path where we can challenge the norm and build something really cool,” program director Russell James said in a statement.

The press release suggests that moving to 102.7 FM HD2 gives The Peak more freedom with its playlist, and potentially “get away with things the others can’t!”

This news comes less than a month after the launch of another new radio station, SONiC Radio, in Vancouver.
